My mother in law was down visiting and wanted to go to church. She went to attend one of their services. Nobody said a word to her. No greetings, nothing. Just some unwelcoming looks.... She came back pretty discouraged and wondering what type of church isn't welcoming.

I grew up in this church when it was in another location. It dictates an extreme Scandinavian fundamentalist doctrine with an obsessive emphasis on "sin" -- it's also quite ethnocentric and closed off -- with a majority of the congregation being of Finnish descent. Outsiders are not easily welcome nor greeted with warmth, if at all -- and often looked on with suspicion. Don't be fooled by the "Lutheran" in the name... this church follows teachings of an obscure 19th century Swedish fundamentalist minister named Laestadius -- and clings strongly to a somber cultish clan like indoctrination. If you're looking for a place of worship that is joyful, warm and welcoming and celebrates the uplifting inclusive loving message of the Christ teachings --- pass this one by.
